NorthWest Crossing Recieves Award of Merit for Master-Planned Community of the Year

Bend, Oregon – NorthWest Crossing today announced the receipt of the Pacific Coast Builders' Conference (PCBC) Award of Merit for Master-Planned Community of the Year. The award was part of the annual prestigious Gold Nugget Award program, which honors creative achievements in architectural design and land-use planning for residential, commercial and industrial projects. The neighborhood was one of four to receive the award, which accepts entries from 14 Western states and from every international country.

Bend, Oregon—West Bend Property Company today announced that The Garner Group Realtors will be opening a branch office within the NorthWest Crossing neighborhood. The brokerage has a proven track record of serving both buyers and sellers within the competitive Central Oregon market, and was founded by award-winning local realtor, Sandy Garner.

Housing Works Partners Celebrate Latest Affordable Housing Project

Bend, Oregon - Several local companies - and a brand-new Bend homeowner - came together today to celebrate the purchase of a NorthWest Crossing cottage for Housing Works' housing program. The construction of the home was made possible through a partnership of several local companies. West Bend Property Company, the developer of NorthWest Crossing, donated the homesite. Craftsman Homes and their team of subcontractors and suppliers donated time and materials for the home. Housing Works created the HomeQuest Ground Lease Program, which allows the new homeowner to lease the land on which the cottage is built.

NorthWest Crossing Welcomes Barack Obama

NorthWest Crossing’s Summit High School hosted Barack Obama and about 2,000 supporters of his campaign on Saturday. The presidential candidate’s speech focused on renewable energy and on the fall general election, as well as other campaign themes like ending the Iraq war, investing in education and reducing corporate power in the country’s capital.

"Walk to School Week" Comes to High Lakes Elementary

NorthWest Crossing, an award-winning mixed-use Bend neighborhood, has partnered with Commute Options of Central Oregon to fund "Walk to School Week" at High Lakes Elementary. This will be the first program of its kind in Bend that is privately funded and is based on Commute Options' Oregon Safe Routes to School (SRTS) and Walking School Bus Programs. The program will be held from May 19-23, 2008.

NorthWest Crossing Building Receives LEED Silver Certification

Bend, Oregon - NorthWest Crossing, an award-winning mixed-use Central Oregon neighborhood, today announced that one of its Neighborhood Center buildings has received its final certification from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Core and Shell (LEED-CS) Program at the Silver level. The building, which will be the new location for La Rosa Authentic Mexican Kitchen, was initially pursuing a standard certification but met the requirements for the higher silver-level designation.

Fremont Place in NorthWest Crossing Registers for LEED Certification

Bend, Oregon – NorthWest Crossing, Bend’s largest mixed-use community, today announced that the Fremont Place live-work townhomes being built by Renaissance Homes have been registered with the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Homes Program. The 30 Fremont Place townhomes are the first of their kind in Central Oregon and will consist of retail and commercial street-level spaces, with living space above.

Earth Advantage® Inc. is Founding Reporter of The Climate Registry

Earth Advantage Inc. has become the 35th Founding Reporter of The Climate Registry by being among the first to join the organization. The Climate Registry is a non-profit organization established to measure and publicly report greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in a common, accurate and transparent manner consistent across industry sectors and borders. Thirty nine U.S. states, six Canadian provinces, three Native American tribes, two Mexican states and the District of Columbia are the founders of the organization.

La Rosa Authentic Mexican Kitchen Expanding; Plans Move to NorthWest Crossing

NorthWest Crossing, Central Oregon's largest mixed-use neighborhood, today announced that La Rosa Authentic Mexican Kitchen will be moving into the new commercial building on the southeast corner of Mt Washington Drive and NW Crossing Drive. The new location is expected to open in spring 2008.

New NorthWest Crossing Senior Housing Lodge Gets Green Light

NorthWest Crossing, Oregon's largest mixed-use community, today announced that the Discovery Park Lodge senior affordable housing project is now moving forward due to approved funds from Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS). The funding was the final piece in a process that included Low Income Housing Tax Credits, a low interest rate loan from the City of Bend and a 20-year tax abatement from the Bend-La Pine School District.

NorthWest Crossing today announced that the two newest buildings in its neighborhood center have won the Grand Award for Green Building in the 2008 Awards of Excellence administered by the National Commercial Builders Council (NCBC) of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

Central Oregon Brokers Complete Green Building Course

Bend, Oregon - Brokers from NorthWest Crossing Realty recently completed an Earth Advantage S.T.A.R. (Sustainability Training for Accredited Real Estate Professionals) program. This fully-accredited training program on green building was developed by Earth Advantage and took place in Bend on October 24-25.
