Commercial Buildings Open for Business in NorthWest Crossing
NorthWest Crossing, one of Central Oregon's largest mixed-use communities, announces the addition of two major commercial buildings to its property. The new Ruff Wear corporate headquarters and an 11,000-square-foot commercial building by Gary Laursen Construction opened recently, marking another step toward NorthWest Crossing's plan for a mixed-use neighborhood.
Completed in mid-September, the Laursen commercial building is a multiple-use structure, which allows for both industrial and office space in each unit. Current tenants, whose units house a mix of showroom, warehouse, office and storage space, include: Gary Laursen Construction, Inc.; Deschutes Vacuum and Sheet Metal; Michael Szigetti Construction; Three Sisters Electric; and Timber Creek Landscape. The tenants share ownership of the building.
"This building was designed to fit into the Oregon landscape and has massive log-style beams, while also utilizing the latest construction, mechanical and electrical technology," said Laursen. "NorthWest Crossing was the perfect location for the project, with its easy access to schools and recreation, plus its work/live objectives. I also build residential homes in the neighborhood, and am currently building my personal home there."
The Ruff Wear headquarters was completed in August, with more than 6,500 square feet of space for the company's customer service, sales, marketing, product design, shipping and receiving functions. All retail business will be located at any of the numerous dealers located in town that carry Ruff Wear products, such as Bend Pet Express, Biscuits Of Bend, Pandora's Backpack and Wild Oats.
"The location of our new facility is perfect with its proximity to downtown, and easy access to a variety of trail systems," said Will Blount, general manager for Ruff Wear. "With our significant growth over the last few years, we are glad to be operating in our new building with more space and, best of all, a spectacular view of the Cascade mountain range."
