Fremont Place in NorthWest Crossing Registers for LEED Certification

Bend, Oregon – NorthWest Crossing, Bend’s largest mixed-use community, today announced that the Fremont Place live-work townhomes being built by Renaissance Homes have been registered with the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Homes Program. The 30 Fremont Place townhomes are the first of their kind in Central Oregon and will consist of retail and commercial street-level spaces, with living space above.

"We have always had a strong commitment to sustainable practices, which is one of the reasons we were so excited to do a project inside NorthWest Crossing," said Randy Sebastian, president of Renaissance Homes. "With Fremont Place, it just made sense to build to LEED standards and provide an environmentally friendly product for home and business owners. It is part of what the neighborhood as a whole is all about."

Designed by the Myhre Group Architects out of Portland, Fremont Place is located on NW Crossing Drive inside NorthWest Crossing's "Neighborhood Center." Each two-story townhome will consist of 600 square feet of commercial space on the lower level, with 1,200-1,600 square feet of living space above. Use of the commercial space will be restricted to services, such as a beauty shop, law office, small neighborhood shops and other like businesses.

The United States Green Building Council's LEED Green Building Rating System® is a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. LEED for Homes is a rating system that promotes the design and construction of high-performance green homes. A green home uses less energy, water and natural resources; creates less waste; and is healthier and more comfortable for the occupants.

Construction is currently underway on Fremont Place and completion of the first building, which includes seven units, is scheduled for July. The project will consist of four buildings total. Two of the first live-work townhomes are already sold.
