NorthWest Crossing Donates to Public Art

Bend, Oregon - NorthWest Crossing, Central Oregon's largest mixed-use neighborhood, today announced its new commitment to support public art. West Bend Property Company, the developer for the project, is pledging 1 percent of commercial building construction budgets to art within the community's Neighborhood Center.

"We feel strongly that art is an important part of the feeling of our community," said David Ford, general manager for NorthWest Crossing. "By formally supporting the incorporation of art in commercial area, we ensure that our residents, neighbors and visitors will enjoy various forms of artwork while visiting our NorthWest Crossing retailers and businesses."

The art will be incorporated into the commercial buildings in NorthWest Crossing's Neighborhood Center, which runs primarily along NW Crossing Drive. The art can be incorporated into the building's architecture or be included in the site plan. Currently, the building on the southeast corner of NW Crossing and Mt Washington Drives displays art glass medallion exterior lights designed by local artists at Glass Symphony, a studio and retail store located within the neighborhood.
