Compass Park Dedication Ceremony at NorthWest Crossing

Compass Park, the newest community park in NorthWest Crossing, was dedicated to the Bend Metro Park and Recreation District (BMPRD) on Sunday, September 17.

The dedication event, an old-fashioned ice cream social, was held at the new Compass Park pavilion. The public was invited to attend, partake in some ice cream treats and explore this new five-acre circular park.

"As our community grows it is important that people in new neighborhoods enjoy the benefits of parks, trials and open space," said Bruce Ronning, Director of Planning and Development for BMPRD. "The Park and Recreation District is pleased to work with developers like NorthWest Crossing to meet our objective to provide a park within walking distance of all Bend's residents."

NorthWest Crossing dedicated its first community park, Lewis & Clark Park, to BMPRD approximately two years ago. Compass Park is the second park in the community, with one more park, Discovery Park, slated for development in the coming years. The three parks will total more than 32 acres and provide recreational opportunities, maintain some of the forested areas, and create open spaces within NorthWest Crossing. These parks are part of the development's dedication to preserving existing trees and maintaining the natural contours of the landscape wherever possible.

Compass Park was designed by Drake Design Group and built by Botanical Developments. It has been a cooperative project of the Bend Metro Park and Recreation District and NorthWest Crossing.
