NorthWest Crossing Named Top Ten Community in Nation by Cottage Living Magazine
Bend, Oregon – NorthWest Crossing was named as a 2008 Top Ten Cottage Neighborhood by Cottage Living magazine. The annual list featured in the July/August issue highlights the very best places to live across the nation, selecting communities based on the homes, people, innovations and unique concepts. NorthWest Crossing, which was featured on the front page of the article and Cottage Living’s Web site, was selected because of its proximity to Central Oregon’s recreation and its commitment to a healthy quality of life.
"Recognition by a national publication like Cottage Living for
our neighborly homes, pedestrian-scaled streets and healthy
environment is a great affirmation that we are fulfilling our
original vision for NorthWest Crossing," said David Ford,
general manager for the neighborhood.
The magazine article recognized NorthWest Crossing for putting
smart growth principles above quick profits during the
population boom of the early 2000s, and the neighborhood's
commitment to creating a natural extension of Bend's west side.
The magazine highlighted several other unique features
including the integration of parks and schools, access to
trails and public transportation and preservation of the area's
mature ponderosa pines.
